Hey there and happy Monday! Hope the weekend treated everyone right and you had some time to unwind and de-stress. Steve and I had an awesome weekend at home relaxing and just enjoying each other’s company. It was per-fection.
Friday’s are usually quiet at our place because Steve is at the gym until 9 or so and we both have to be at the gym early-ish (8:45 – if I’m planning on training before my 10:00am bootcamp class) so we don’t get too crazy.
Saturday night however, I took the time to make my man a delicious dinner – not like my weekday dinners aren’t delish – to show him how much I appreciate all the hard work he does for us.

I made homemade cheesy garlic pull-a-part bread which was good, but not great. My recipe needs some tweaking.

I totally forgot to snap a picture of dessert but I assure you it was awesome. I made home-made caramel corn for the first time and it was deeeelish! The perfect accompaniment to our entertainment for the evening…
We got Netflix a couple months ago since we’re not home at usual TV watching times some nights and it’s nice to be able to just sit down and pick something to watch instantly. 24 is perfect because the seasons are long and it’s kind of like watching a mini-action movie with each episode. We started season 2 this weekend.

Sunday was spent having lunch at Steve’s Gramma’s and then we spent the rest of the day relaxing some more and I got food prepped for the week ahead. I think next week I’ll detail everything I do on Sunday just because some of you have asked. I make stew, bake eggs, make some sort of protein snack, and meal plan for the week ahead. I swear if I had someone who could video me, I would start up a little Powerhouse Cooking Show.
A few of you have also asked what my plans are as far as my next competition goes. I was initially looking at a show at the end of April, but after thinking about it and talking with Steve I’ve decided to hold off. I’ve only been on my current eating plan for about a month and I want to give my body longer to see how it responds. If I competed in April I’d have to start prep this week and I just don’t feel like I’ve had adequate time off to see what I’m going to change this time around. Committing yourself to contest prep is something you can’t (or shouldn’t) half ass so I want to make sure I have a solid plan going in.
Last time I lost a little bit too much muscle mass those last couple weeks. A good part of that was because I got the flu, but I really want to try and combat that. This picture my sister took kinda shows that.
I definitely wasn’t as emaciated as I look here (I’m almost a bobble-head) but I did lose too much from my arms and other places. I’m going to take the next one even more slow and steady. I’m thinking I might do 2 shows in June. I’m going to listen to my body – just like I did last time – and do what’s right for me.
I truly loved my last prep and want to fully enjoy this one as well. I’m going to do a lot of things the same, and some things will change. That’s why I really want to test drive this new nutrition plan and see how it goes. Not having a solid plan is not an option for me so I will wait and make sure I know what I’m doing.
In terms of how I rebounded after the show, I’m really happy with how things are going! I went to Mexico three weeks after the show, and then it was Christmas holidays right after. Despite all the worry that I would pack on more weight than I lost, that did not happen. Yes I gained weight back, but I’m happy with the amount I gained back. I weigh less than I did before I started my last prep and I’m trying to make sure I have a solid foundation for whenever I do start my next cut and right now I’m happy.
Well, I think that about covers me right now. Did ya’ll notice how good I was about posting last week? 4 Times! Ya, 2 workout videos, 1 DIY workout, and a recipe! I’m quite proud of myself and I’m going to try and keep it up!
