Recent Fav’s & High Five Friday

How excited are you for the weekend?! Tomorrow is my mom’s 50th birthday so I’m taking her out for an afternoon of fun and then we have a buck & doe to go to for some friends of ours. We have some fun family stuff going on on Sunday too.

 

      

Some recent things I’ve been enjoying:

 

      

I have been digging this new dressing/sauce from President’s Choice. I usually always make my own dressings and things like that but this one caught my eye so I decided to give it a whirl. I love it on salads, with grilled shrimp, and on wraps.

     

My chewy chocolate peanut protein bars:

 

     

I just started making these again and I don’t know why I stopped in the first place. They take minutes to throw together and are the perfect post workout snack. Not to mention it makes me feel like I’m eating dessert.

 

Hurdles:

 

I’ve been incorporating hurdles into my training for a while now. Doing a hurdle jump into a sprint, hurdle jump into a box jump, hurdle jump into a medicine ball throw. The options are endless and I really feel like I’m becoming much more explosive and dynamic from them.

 

 

Spirulina:

 

 

I’ll be honest with you, at first I wasn’t all that sure about this stuff. It kinda smells funny and it just doesn’t look appetizing. However I’ve tried it quite a few times now and I must admit, it gives you a nice energy boost and just makes you feel good. The health benefits are numerous and it doesn’t take long to get used to taking it.

 

Anyways those are some of my favourite recent foodie things I’ve been munching away on this week, now on to the good stuff:

I’m jumping on the wagon again to give some shout outs to some of the ladies at the gym who have been kicking ass in at Powerhouse!

 

Francesca – Gets a high five for not only consistently making it into bootcamp, but also for really pushing it while she’s there.

 

Rachael – Gets a high five for finishing Warrior Dash at the top of her class, she killed it!

 

Shauna – Gets a high five for working hard to reach her goals without making excuses and pushing the prowler even when she doesn’t have to

 

Lorrie – Gets a high five for kicking butt on a challenging barbell complex

 

Ashlee – Gets a high five for stepping out of her comfort zone and trying heavy weight lifting. She also didn’t give up and improved her deadlift technique.

 

Those are just some of the people that stand out and every week I will be highlighting those that push it that extra mile to make it work.

    Holy wow! Hurdles babe!? You never cease to impress me! Seriously though, I was training today and ALL I could think about is how my training might change come fall…. such an exciting thing to think about <3

    I have seen that dressing many times! I definitely bet it would be fab on shrimp! :) I just had shrimp for dinner in fact ;)

    I cannot thank you enough for taking part in HFF :) Thanks love :) It makes me feel so good and I know all of the girls who got high fives (an definitely deserved them too!!!!!) felt so good!       I know I can’t wait to see you either! I got your email and will write you back tonight to explain some things and give you some options. The girls are LOVING HFF, I think it’s a great motivator!
