FRRRRIIIIDAAAAYYYY! Yes it’s finally here! Steve and I are both feeling better and I have lots going on this weekend. Tonight I’m going out for dinner with my friend Mackenzie and I cannot wait. We’re heading to Tru Restaurant and while neither of us have been before, I have heard nothing but wonderful things. Tomorrow I’m heading down to St. Catharines to spend some time with family and friends as this weekend marks the 5th anniversary of my dad passing away. I wrote a post about my dad last year and am really happy that I’ll be around some special people to celebrate his memory this weekend. We’re going to cook an amazing dinner, have some drinks, and enjoy some laughs because that’s definitely what he’d want us to do.



Today I thought I’d share some of my recent favourite things I’ve been enjoying lately so here they are in no particular order.

I picked this up at Wal-Mart a while back and I LOVE it! I find some under eye concealers crease and wear off throughout the day but this one stays put perfectly, even when I’m a sweaty mess. It has caffeine and lemon and some other stuff in it to help with puffiness and improve dark eye circles over time (mine are hereditary and aren’t going anywhere, I’ve tried a ton of products and methods) but the coverage is just perfect. This little roller also lasts a loooong time. I’ve had mine for well over 3 months and it still seems to have quite a bit left.




I wear under eye concealer every. single. day. I do not leave the house without it on. I can go without the rest of my makeup but under eye concealer is a must or I look like this:

I really like all of his songs and wish he had more. Steve used two of his songs for the Powerhouse 2012 montage video he put together. It gets me psyched to lift and everyone in our gym seems to enjoy it. Who doesn’t love angry music when you’re grinding through a lift.




I love rap music. I tend to really enjoy songs that have lyrics that are somewhat degrading to women. I don’t know why but those songs tend to have the best beats and I’m all about a solid bass line. I’ve actually had people say that I shouldn’t like those songs because of the lyrics but to be honest, it doesn’t really bother me.


On a different music note – I’ll listen to this song 2 or 3 times in a row before changing it.

Pulled Pork Pizza



I’ve made this pizza a couple of times and I think it might be my favourite. I love BBQ sauce pizza and since the pork cooks in the slow cooker all day, it’s really easy to throw together.




I never used to like pizza. Like at all. I didn’t understand why other kids loved it so much. Last week I had pizza twice – I guess I’m still making up for lost time 😉




me sledgehammer hiit


I LOVE me some solid HIIT training. I also love using things most people don’t have access to in ‘normal’ commercial gyms. I love the sledgehammer, tire flips, battle ropes, prowler and sleds. A lot of people don’t think to do more upper body based finishers, I love’ em. 




Sometimes when I’m swinging the sledgehammer I think of the latest person that ticked me off and go to town.  A little violent? Perhaps. Effective? Damn straight.

I’ve been pretty successful in packing on some muscle since my competition and am excited to lean out and really see how good it looks. My upper body and booty have definitely made some wicked progress. I could not be more pleased.




While I am super proud of my muscle that I have worked really hard on, I do not like to be called bulky. I am nowhere near bulky. Strong yes, hulk-like, not-so-much. I want to look strong, not be compared to a dude.

I’m off to enjoy a killer dinner with my girl and I’ll be back next week to share more awesome, including some new workouts!
